Job Title: ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Sanford, FL
Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Days: Rotating weekends
Nights: Rotating weekends
Base Pay (Experience-Based):
$31.86/hr – 5 years
$36.12/hr – Mid-range
$40.44/hr – 10 years
$46.28/hr – 17+ years
Shift Differentials:
Nights: $4.50/hr
Weekends: $1.50/hr
Sign-On Bonus (available through December 2025):
$15,000 – Day shift
$20,000 – Night shift
Relocation Assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis
The ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse provides high-quality, patient-centered care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent clinical assessments. This role demands strong critical thinking, clinical autonomy, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments
Apply advanced clinical judgment to safely manage complex patient conditions
Monitor critical vital signs and respond to emergent or life-threatening changes
Administer medications, titrate IV drips, and manage advanced therapies per protocol
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
Educate patients and families on medications, procedures, and care plans
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
Minimum 1 year of recent ICU Stepdown RN experience
OR consideration for candidates with 3+ years of Cardiac PCU or Multisystem PCU experience
Active Florida RN license or approved multistate compact license
Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days of relocation
RN Diploma or Associate Degree (BSN preferred)
BLS required within 30 days of start
NIH Stroke Scale certification within 30 days of start
ACLS (AHA) required within 6 months of start
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Experience managing vasoactive drips and ventilated patients
Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills
