Job Summary:
The ICU/CCU Staff Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients, ensuring continuous monitoring, timely interventions, and maintaining patient safety as per hospital protocols and medical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care & Monitoring
- Provide round-the-clock nursing care to critically ill patients.
- Monitor and record vital signs (BP, pulse, respiration, temperature, oxygen saturation).
- Observe and report any changes in patient condition to the physician or ICU In-Charge.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and injections as per doctor’s orders.
- Assist in intubation, ventilation, and resuscitation procedures when required.
- Equipment Handling
- Operate and maintain ICU/CCU equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps, monitors, and suction machines.
- Ensure all equipment is functional, cleaned, and calibrated regularly.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, patient charts, and treatment records.
- Document intake/output, medications administered, and nursing observations.
- Report incidents or critical situations promptly.
- Infection Control & Safety
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and standard precautions.
- Maintain hygiene and aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with doctors, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare staff for comprehensive patient care.
- Provide information and emotional support to patient attendants as per policy.
- Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to code blue and other emergency calls.
- Assist in CPR and other lifesaving procedures.
- Training & Development
- Participate in regular training sessions and skill enhancement programs.
- Guide and support junior nurses and nursing students posted in ICU/CCU.
