What You’ll Do

As a Imaging Clerical Rep, you will report to the Manager of Imaging Informatics and monitors the daily function of the Imaging Applications. Interacts with internal and external customers for training or issue resolution.

Imaging Clerical Rep Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs imaging department clerical duties including answering phones, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Registers patients by obtaining, entering, and verifying demographic, insurance, and physician information in hospital systems.
  • Collects payments, posts transactions, issues receipts, and ensures completion of required consent and insurance documentation.
  • Coordinates insurance verification and pre-certification processes, including follow-up with providers and insurers as needed.
  • Provides patient cost estimates and ensures compliance with medical necessity and insurance requirements (e.g., ABN, MSP).
  • Maintains patient records, logs, and documentation and supports timely claims processing.
  • Operates office and imaging systems (PACS, Aspen, Cerner) to manage scheduling, imaging workflows, documentation, and reporting.
  • Supports department operations through project coordination, training new staff, and assisting with workflow education and updates.
  • Participates in ongoing training, meetings, and competency requirements while staying current on procedural changes.
  • Delivers professional customer service while ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant registration and administrative processes.
  • Completes additional duties and system-related tasks as assigned to support department efficiency.

What You Bring

As a Imaging Clerical Rep, it requires the ability to learn and use anatomy and radiology terminology, as well as knowledge of medical abbreviations and their meanings. Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external contacts. Requires proficient computer skills to complete work assignments accurately and efficiently, along with working knowledge of standard software systems. Utilizes sound judgment to make appropriate decisions in accordance with Beacon and departmental policies and procedures. Possesses effective telephone communication skills to accurately process and relay information. Demonstrates training and presentation skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and technical troubleshooting skills. Requires attention to detail, strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities, and an understanding of testing and quality control processes.


Required Qualifications

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.
  • Experience with Computer Applications and Information Systems Applications preferred.
  • One to two years of job-related experience is preferred.
  • Strongly prefer two to three years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of Dicom computer language preferred.
  • Medical Terminology and Radiology environment experience preferred.
  • Use of applications listed in essential job duties can be acquired through on-the-job training.
