Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of the Engaged Learning Office, the Immersive Learning Programs Manager oversees a diverse portfolio of off-campus and global initiatives. Programs include domestic immersive programs, traditional study abroad, global community-based learning, faculty-led programs, and international project-based learning.

You will develop and facilitate advising, communications, and programming that connect students to a comprehensive spectrum of global pathways. This includes managing immersive student experiences at UM and preparing them for prestigious postgraduate milestones such as the Fulbright Program and other global fellowships. You will also cultivate relationships with global vendors, partner institutions, and community contacts, while collaborating with School of Information faculty and campus-wide global education partners.

Responsibilities*

• Manage all aspects of immersive programs, including program design, faculty collaboration, student recruitment, policy management, and the development of mutually beneficial project-partner relationships.
  
• Oversee project development, advising, course evaluation, credit transfer, and pre-departure preparation while ensuring onsite engagement and intentional reflection.
  
• Contribute to the development of formal partnerships with international institutions and local community organizations, implementing cooperative agreements that align with degree programs and community engagement standards
  
• Manage scholarship and financial aid processes for students pursuing education abroad. Provide students with guidance on funding opportunities and how to apply for funding for international programs at U-M and externally.
  
• Represent the School of Information at a variety of immersive experiences and international educators groups, and other UM-related networks; collaborate with other U-M global professionals across campus internally and externally
  
• Contribute to the success of Engaged Learning Office programs and infrastructure through collaboration and by participating in department-level strategic planning, data collection, data management, marketing, and communications activities
  

Required Qualifications*

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
  
• 2+ years experience with off-campus student engagement programs, including but not limited to global education or community engagement; international development; international relations or similar work environment.
  
• Demonstrated experience developing curriculum or content for complex student programs
  
• Demonstrated experience developing and steward working relationships with a variety of audiences, including students, community and global partners, staff, and faculty
  
• Demonstrated experience managing data in complex databases and office productivity software
  
• Ability to travel internationally at minimum 1-3 times per year with students as a leader and as a representative of the University of Michigan
  

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

This is a hybrid position. You will coordinate your schedule with your supervisor in accordance with school policy. You may be required to travel to multiple locations on and off campus. The main office workspace for this position is located in the Leinweber Computer Science and Information building on North Campus. Punctual and regular attendance is required. You will be required to work during non-business hours and on weekends based on the requirements for your position.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $73,000. Salary is determined by direct relevant experience and demonstrated past performance results while ensuring equity on our team. While rare, we may offer a salary above the posted range for an exceptionally qualified candidate, considering internal equity and budget. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.

Union Affiliation

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
