Immigration Paralegal or Attorney - Part Time

Job Overview
We are seeking an Immigration Paralegal or Attorney to work part-time.

Specifically, we are seeking someone with at least 2 years of experience in writing and filing appeals to the BIA and briefs with the federal district court and circuit court of appeals. You do not need to be licensed. You must be completely familiar with the court rules and procedures.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to immigration law cases while supporting a variety of legal functions across multiple practice areas. Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and filing immigration appeals to the BIA, Federal Court and Circuit Court of Appeals. Must have knowledge and experience with PACERS and ECF.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources to support case strategies and stay current on immigration laws and regulations
  • Review and organize legal documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procedural requirements
  • Interview clients to gather pertinent information and document case details accurately
  • Draft legal correspondence, affidavits, declarations, and other supporting documentation with precision and clarity
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously by maintaining organized files, tracking deadlines, and updating case statuses efficiently
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, proofreading, transcription, filing, and maintaining document management systems
  • Communicate effectively with clients, government agencies, and internal teams via phone etiquette and professional correspondence
  • Support other practice areas as needed such as family law, landlord-tenant law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law, estate planning, environmental law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, securities law, litigation, contracts, or UCC law

Experience

  • Paralegal experience or attorney background with at least 2 solid years of immigration law is required; familiarity with other practice areas such as divorces and criminal law is a plus
  • Proven ability to manage legal research using Westlaw or LexisNexis effectively
  • Experience working within a law office environment with legal administrative tasks including document review and case management
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence with clarity and professionalism
  • Proficiency in legal software such as DOCKETWISE, Document Management Systems (DMS), and data entry tools
  • Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, proofreading, transcription, phone etiquette, and administrative support functions
