Position: Manager – Import
Department: Operations / Import Documentation
Industry: Freight Forwarding & Logistics
Experience Required: 5 – 15 Years
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Management & Coordination
- Serve as primary contact for key import clients and manage complete communication.
- Resolve escalations, guide on customs procedures, and maintain strong client relationships.
2. Liner / Carrier Coordination
- Coordinate with shipping lines, NVOCCs, and agents for BL release/corrections, ANs, DOs, manifest updates, and freight confirmations.
- Handle escalations related to carriers, DO delays, and documentation issues.
3. Import Documentation (Manager Level)
- Oversee end-to-end import documentation: Invoice, PL, COO, BL, Insurance, etc.
- Ensure compliance with customs rules, HS codes, and statutory requirements.
- Review and approve team documentation for accuracy.
4. Accounts & Cost Control
- Coordinate billing, vendor reconciliation, and job costing with Accounts.
- Approve liner, CHA, transport, and CFS bills; monitor job profitability and closures.
- Support management in controlling operational costs.
5. Shipment Coordination & Operations
- Manage shipment movement from origin to final delivery.
- Coordinate with CHA, transporters, and CFS for timely clearance and delivery.
- Track milestones and manage operational escalations.
6. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead and mentor the documentation team; assign tasks and monitor performance.
- Drive process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Keep team updated on customs regulations, INCOTERMS, and best practices.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in import freight forwarding operations and customs documentation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- In-depth knowledge of INCO Terms, HS codes, port/CFS operations, and customs procedures.
- Ability to handle high-volume shipments and operational escalations independently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric approach.
- Proficiency in MS Office, email correspondence, and freight ERP systems.
Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline (Commerce/Logistics preferred).
- 5–15 years of experience in Import Documentation & Operations in the freight forwarding sector, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
