Imports Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Imports Officer to manage and coordinate import operations, ensuring timely clearance and delivery of imported goods while maintaining compliance with applicable customs regulations, company policies, and international trade requirements. The successful candidate will liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient import processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor end-to-end import activities from purchase order placement to final delivery.
  • Communicate with international suppliers regarding shipment schedules, shipping documents, and order status.
  • Review and verify import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other required documents.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs clearing agents, and transportation providers.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, import laws, and company policies.
  • Track shipments and provide regular updates to relevant departments regarding delivery timelines.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of import transactions and shipping documentation.
  • Monitor import costs and assist in cost analysis and budgeting activities.
  • Resolve shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, and customs-related issues.
  • Coordinate with finance and procurement departments regarding payments, duties, taxes, and shipment-related expenses.
  • Maintain import databases, records, and reports for management review.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance import efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, International Trade, Commerce, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in import operations, logistics, supply chain, or international trade.
  • Knowledge of import procedures, customs regulations, and international shipping practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with ERP systems and import management software.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms, customs clearance processes, and international trade documentation.
  • Understanding of freight forwarding and shipping operations.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs agents.

Pay: Rs50,000.00 - Rs55,000.00 per month
