Join Our Team as a Computer Science Tutor at Math Man Olmedo Tutoring Center!

Position: Computer Science Tutor
Location: In-Center (12125 Day Street Ste. E305, Moreno Valley, CA 92557)
Hours: Minimum Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Additional hours available (we offer tutoring 7 days a week, 9 AM – 9 PM).

About Us

Math Man Olmedo Tutoring Center provides personalized tutoring, both online and in-person, to guide students toward academic success. Our tutors align their instruction with what students are learning in school, creating a consistent and effective learning experience.

Our center offers a structured, focused environment equipped with whiteboards, practice rooms, and Wi-Fi to support student learning.

We help students grow in:

  • Math: Elementary through Calculus, Statistics, and more
  • Science: Chemistry, Physics, Biology
  • Test Prep: SAT, ACT, CBEST, ASVAB, GED, and more
  • Other Subjects: Reading, Spanish, and enrichment programs

Role Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Computer Science Tutor to support students through enrichment, exploration, and foundational coding skills. This role focuses on introducing students to computer science concepts in a way that builds curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group sessions in computer science fundamentals
  • Teach basic coding principles (e.g., logic, sequencing, loops, conditionals)
  • Introduce students to beginner-friendly programming languages (such as Scratch, Python, or similar)
  • Create engaging, hands-on lessons focused on exploration and real-world applications
  • Support students with school assignments or personal coding projects
  • Break down technical concepts into simple, understandable steps
  • Encourage critical thinking and creativity through coding challenges
  • Track student progress and communicate updates with parents/guardians
  • Adapt instruction based on each student’s skill level and learning style

Ideal Candidate

  • Background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (degree preferred)
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring students (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of basic programming concepts
  • Ability to make learning interactive and engaging for younger students
  • Patient, reliable, and committed to student growth
  • Comfortable using technology and virtual platforms (Zoom, etc.)
  • Reliable transportation (if open to future in-home sessions)
  • Bonus: bilingual abilities or experience working with diverse learners
