POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are currently hiring PRN (as-needed) Personal Care Assistants in the Birmingham, Alabama area and surrounding communities. As a PCA with Angelic Hearts, you will provide hands-on personal care and assistance to clients in their own homes — helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life every single day. WHAT YOU'LL DO —

PERSONAL CARE DUTIES

As a Personal Care Assistant, you will provide direct, hands-on care including:

• PERSONAL HYGIENE & GROOMING
• Assist clients with bathing, showering, and sponge baths
• Help with oral hygiene including brushing teeth and denture care
• Assist with hair care, shaving, and nail care
• Help clients with dressing and undressing
• Assist with skin care and application of lotions as directed
• MOBILITY & TRANSFERS
• Assist clients with safely getting in and out of bed
• Help with transferring to and from wheelchairs, chairs, and vehicles
• Assist with walking and ambulation to prevent falls
• Help with range of motion exercises as directed in care plan
• Use proper body mechanics and safety techniques at all times
• NUTRITION & MEAL SUPPORT
• Assist with meal planning and preparation based on dietary needs
• Help clients with eating and drinking if needed
• Monitor food and fluid intake and report concerns to the office
• Assist with grocery shopping and errand running
• PERSONAL LIVING ASSISTANCE
• Assist with toileting, incontinence care, and catheter care as directed
• Help with changing adult briefs and maintaining skin integrity
• Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment
• Assist with laundry and linen changes
• Provide medication reminders (non-medical)
• COMPANIONSHIP & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
• Provide meaningful companionship, conversation, and emotional support
• Accompany clients to medical appointments, therapy, and community outings
• Encourage client participation in activities and hobbies
• Report any physical or emotional changes in the client to the office promptly
• DOCUMENTATION
• Accurately document all services provided during each visit
• Complete visit notes and time records as required by the agency
• Report any concerns, incidents, or changes in client condition immediately

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Genuine compassion and dedication to client care
• Reliable, punctual, and professional at all times
• Ability to perform hands-on personal care tasks with dignity and respect Ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients safely (up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to pass an Alabama criminal background check
• Valid government-issued photo ID
• Social Security card
• Negative TB test results (within the last 12 months)
• Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before starting)
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Must be 18 years of age or older Legally authorized to work in the United States
• No physical limitations that would prevent performing personal care duties

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification — highly preferred
• Previous PCA, HHA, or personal care experience — 1+ year preferred
• Experience providing care to clients with dementia or Alzheimer's
• Experience with hoyer lifts, gait belts, and transfer equipment
• Experience working with clients who have physical disabilities or chronic illness
