Overview

This position requires the caregiver to travel to Manassas and Fairfax Virginia in six-week rotation. The hours will be from 8am-8pm and 8pm-8am. Caregivers will need to be strong and have experience with dementia and incontinent care. Pay for this position will be between 17.00-20.00 dollars per hour. Looking for experienced caregivers to join our care team. Caregivers will need to have experience with dementia care and experience with safe transfers. The caregivers we are looking for would need to be able to commute to both Manassa and Fairfax, Virginia as this client rotates every six weeks with her son and daughter.

Caregivers will need to be able to undergo and pass a background check and drug screening. Caregivers will need to be on time for all shifts scheduled. The current shifts would be from 8am-8 pm and also 8pm-8a.

What you’ll do

  • Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing to ensure they feel comfortable and confident.
  • Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities that stimulate their minds and spirits.
  • Help with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met while accommodating dietary restrictions.
  • Administer medications as prescribed, keeping accurate records of dosages and schedules to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to promote safety and prevent injury.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and organizing.
  • Communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals about client progress and any concerns that arise.
  • Document daily activities, changes in client condition, and any incidents that occur during your shift.

Basic qualifications

  • Experience in geriatric care or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to foster positive relationships with clients and their families.
  • Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting or assisting clients as needed.

Preferred qualifications

  • Level II trauma center experience or familiarity with hospital medicine is a plus.
  • Background in emergency medicine or experience in a Level I Trauma Center can enhance your effectiveness in this role.
  • Knowledge of pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) protocols or operating room (OR) experience is beneficial for diverse caregiving situations.
  • Familiarity with medical-surgical practices, inpatient care, outpatient services, clinic experience, or post-acute care settings will be advantageous.
  • Experience in sub-acute care environments can help you provide comprehensive support.
