In Home Caregiver

Overview
Seeking a dependable caregiver for an 84-year-old woman with mild dementia. The role includes daily companionship, medication reminders and supervision, transportation to appointments and errands, cleaning and household tasks, and occasional medical advocacy.

We are hoping to find someone she genuinely connects with. She is feminine, social, and lighthearted, with a great sense of humor, and she thrives with someone upbeat and easy to talk to. Personality fit is very important to us, and this role could be an excellent fit for a responsible student or part-time professional.

The position is located in Lancaster, California and is scheduled Monday–Saturday from 10am–2pm. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required, as driving is part of the role.

Duties

• Daily Care & Companionship
• Provide attentive supervision, positive company, and social engagement

Medication & Medical Support

• Administer morning and afternoon medications as scheduled
• Transport and accompany her to medical appointments
• Act as a medical advocate during appointments
• Communicate updates or concerns to family

Meals & Household Support

• Prepare simple, nutritious meals and snacks
• Order groceries as needed
• Perform light cleaning (kitchen and bathroom upkeep, laundry, organization, discarding expired food)
• Maintain a tidy and safe living environment, including dishes
• Accompany her to activities based on her energy level
• Assist calmly and respectfully with occasional hygiene-related or incontinence situations
• Monitor for safety and any changes in condition

Skills

• Compassionate with excellent interpersonal skills to connect genuinely with clients of diverse backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a home setting
• Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to changing needs with flexibility
• Experience working in teaching hospitals or sub-acute care facilities is advantageous
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and confidently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills

REQUIREMENTS

• Prior caregiving experience preferred (especially dementia or memory care)
• Valid driver’s license, reliable car, and insurance required
• Comfortable assisting with personal care and sanitation tasks
• Patient, dependable, observant, and kind demeanor
• Ability to follow routine and instructions
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (W-2 payroll position)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
