Summary of Key Job Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and guidance to OOCL North America group companies, largely focusing on business contracts and compliance with industry-related laws and regulations

Review and negotiate contracts, agreements (service contracts), and other legal documents

Represent the company in legal proceedings, including court cases and arbitration
-
Identify and manage legal risks associated with business operations and transactions
-
Ensure company compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
-
Facilitate and evaluate legal claims and litigation across departments and provide input on dispute resolution.
Qualifications:
-
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
-
Pass the bar exam & be licensed to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction
-
2 – 4 years of licensed legal experience
-
Strong knowledge of corporate law principles & regulatory frameworks
-
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
-
Ability to manage multiple projects & deadlines effectively
-
Experience in drafting & reviewing legal documents
-
Ability to work independently & as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
-
Familiarity with relevant legal technology software
-
Draft and negotiate contracts related to maritime & logistics activities
-
Advise management regarding compliance with maritime & government regulations
-
Comply with international conventions and treaties
-
Assist with insurance claims, mediate disputes, and enforce regulations
-
Well versed in international federal state laws as well as specific maritime regulations, is a plus.
