Job Overview:

We are looking for proactive and energetic In-Store Merchandisers to manage our fresh fruits and vegetables in top retail outlets for our Ripe Organic Brand.

The role is responsible for ensuring product availability, correct pricing, attractive displays, freshness, and overall shelf presentation.

The ideal candidate should be physically fit, hardworking, punctual, creative, and possess good communication and sales skills.

Experience in retail merchandising, fresh produce, or FMCG will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Availability and Stock Replenishment

  • Ensure all assigned fruits and vegetables are available on shelves, display stands, chillers, and promotional areas at all times.
  • Monitor stock levels regularly and refill products promptly to avoid out-of-stock situations.
  • Coordinate with store receiving teams, back store staff, drivers, and internal sales/logistics teams to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Check stock in the back store and move available stock to the selling area without delay.
  • Report fast-moving, slow-moving, and non-moving items to the supervisor.
  • Track stock shortages and communicate urgent replenishment requirements.

2. Display and Visual Merchandising

  • Arrange products in an attractive, clean, and organized manner as per the planogram to maximize visibility and sales.
  • Build eye-catching, creative displays for fresh produce sections and promotional areas.
  • Ensure products are displayed according to company standards, planograms, seasonal priorities, and retail outlet guidelines.
  • Rotate stock using FEFO principles to reduce spoilage and maintain freshness.
  • Remove damaged, spoiled, or poor-quality stock from display immediately.
  • Maintain shelves, crates, baskets, chillers, and promotional islands in neat and tidy condition at all times.
  • Ensure displays are full, fresh, visually appealing, and aligned with the brand image.

3. Pricing and POSM Compliance

  • Ensure correct price tags are displayed clearly for every SKU and product variant.
  • Verify pricing accuracy between shelf labels, promotional signage, and system pricing where applicable.
  • Ensure promotional tags, stickers, wobblers, signboards, and other point-of-sale materials are properly placed and visible.
  • Highlight promotional offers and special displays to shoppers and store staff where needed.
  • Report pricing discrepancies immediately to the concerned team for correction.

4. Freshness and Quality Control

  • Inspect fruits and vegetables regularly for freshness, ripeness, cleanliness, and presentation quality.
  • Segregate and remove poor-quality, damaged, overripe, or expired products.
  • Follow quality standards for handling, stacking, storing, and displaying fresh produce.
  • Ensure proper hygiene and safe handling practices are followed at all times.
  • Support efforts to reduce shrinkage, wastage, and customer complaints.

5. Sales Support and Customer Engagement

  • Support sales by maintaining excellent product presentation and display readiness.
  • Assist customers in locating products and answering basic product-related questions when required.
  • Recommend products, promotions, and alternatives to help increase sales.
  • Coordinate with outlet staff to secure better shelf placement and display opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product movement, visibility, and sales performance.

6. Relationship Management

  • Maintain good working relationships with store managers, supervisors, department heads, receivers, and floor staff.
  • Represent the company professionally within all assigned outlets.
  • Communicate store feedback, competitor activity, and customer trends to the supervisor.
  • Support the resolution of in-store issues related to display space, pricing, stock availability, or product complaints.

7. Reporting and Market Feedback

  • Submit daily outlet visit reports, stock updates, display photos, and issue reports as required.
  • Report competitor pricing, promotions, merchandising activities, and new product launches.
  • Share observations on consumer buying behavior and store movement trends.
  • Maintain records of stock shortages, returns, damages, and display compliance.
  • Escalate operational issues promptly and accurately.

8. Discipline, Attendance, and Route Compliance

  • Visit assigned outlets as per approved route plan and schedule.
  • Maintain punctuality, attendance, grooming, and professional conduct at all times.
  • Complete store visits within the required timelines and standards.
  • Follow company rules, safety procedures, hygiene requirements, and reporting formats.
  • Be flexible to work weekends, holidays, early morning shifts, or peak sales periods if required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in merchandising, retail shelf management, or fresh produce handling.
  • Experience in fruits and vegetables, FMCG, dairy, bakery, or chilled/fresh categories is preferred.
  • Experience dealing with major retail chains is an advantage.
