Job DescriptionRole Summary
The Incharge Emergency Nurse is responsible for supervising the overall functioning of the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality patient care, coordinating the nursing team, and maintaining smooth operations during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure timely triaging and assessment of emergency patients.
- Monitor and support nurses in delivering high-quality emergency care.
- Assist in critical procedures and ensure adherence to emergency protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessment, treatment, and nursing care.
- Coordinate with doctors for immediate interventions and patient stabilization.
2. Administrative & Supervisory Roles
- Supervise daily operations of the Emergency Department.
- Prepare duty rosters and assign responsibilities to emergency nursing staff.
- Ensure availability of necessary supplies, equipment, and medications.
- Maintain records, reports, and departmental registers accurately.
- Ensure proper handover and communication between shifts.
3. Staff Management & Training
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and performance monitoring for emergency nurses.
- Conduct regular training on emergency protocols, BLS/ACLS, and disaster management.
- Ensure staff compliance with hospital policies, standards, and clinical guidelines.
4. Coordination & Communication
- Maintain effective coordination with doctors, paramedical staff, lab, radiology, and other departments.
- Communicate critical cases and updates promptly to senior management.
- Handle patient and family communication during emergencies with professionalism and empathy.
5. Quality & Safety
- Ensure strict compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in quality assurance programs and audits.
- Report incidents, near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid Nursing Council Registration
- Minimum 8-15 years of experience in Emergency Department
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced situations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
