Apple is looking for an employment lawyer to join its Global Labour and Employment Law team to provide world-class support to Apple’s broad People Team, the business and other stakeholders in India. This lawyer will be based in Apple’s Bengaluru office. The areas of responsibility will initially cover Apple India business and employment and labour matters, then gradually expand to multiple jurisdictions over time.

Description

- Be a trusted legal partner to the Employee/Labour Relations (ELR) and People Business Team organizations, advising on a variety of employment matters across the full employment lifecycle including hiring and recruiting, investigations, discipline and performance management, accommodations, terminations, workforce restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions. - Work with internal partners to achieve employment law compliance, including in support of the IC and POSH compliance. - Formulate and revise standard terms and conditions of employment and People policies, advise on employee consultation and labour authority filing requirements. - Respond to demand letters and instruct and manage Apple’s external legal advisors on employment-related litigation or arbitration matters. - Responsible for preparing and conducting employment and labour law training programs for People team and management. - Contribute to knowledge sharing, expertise and skills to assist in improving decision making in employment and labour law issues in the region.

Minimum Qualifications
  • India qualified lawyer with relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal team
  • Significant experience in providing advice to multi-national organizations, with proven ability to match legal expertise to commercial business context

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent knowledge of federal and state labour and employment laws and regulations
  • Exposure to jurisdictions outside of India is not essential, but an interest in working across either the EMEIA or APAC region is a pre-requisite
  • Excellent technical, analytical and decision-making skills together with an ability to communicate, both verbal and written, in a commercial and non-technical manner
  • Strong and effective relationship management
  • Self-motivated and solution driven
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and manage deadlines in a fast-based and demanding work environment and perform under pressure
  • Sense of humour and commitment to professionalism
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
