About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Industrial Designer to join our product development team. This role will focus on designing innovative, functional, and manufacturable consumer/industrial products from initial concept through to production-ready deliverables. You will collaborate closely with marketing and manufacturing teams to bring high-quality products to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create compelling product concepts, sketches, renderings, and detailed design presentations
- Develop detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready engineering drawings
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) across injection molding, sheet metal, machining, and various finishing processes
- Prepare and optimize 3D models for in-house and external 3D printing (SLA, FDM, SLS)
- Conduct material selection and finish specification
- Build and test physical prototypes (3D printed, foam models, appearance models, etc.)
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers on mechanism design, tolerance stack-ups, and assembly
- Present design concepts and iterations to internal stakeholders and clients
- Manage multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in industrial design, product design, mechanical engineering, or closely related fields
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for sketching, rendering, and presentation creation
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent parametric 3D CAD software (SolidWorks strongly preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience preparing, slicing, supporting, and post-processing models for 3D printing (including troubleshooting print failures, optimizing for material and printer type)
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, die casting, sheet metal, CNC, etc.)
- Excellent visual communication skills – from quick marker sketches to photorealistic renderings
- Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work (consumer products, medical devices, electronics, or industrial equipment preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with KeyShot or similar rendering software
- Basic prototyping shop skills (laser cutting, CNC, finishing, etc.)
