Overview
Fox Packaging has an opening for an experienced Industrial Engineer. We need a self-motivated professional with proven project management and manufacturing experience. This position has an emphasis on and will be responsible for establishing safety and quality procedures and standards, evaluate processes and procedures, and recommend cost reductions.
Job Responsibilities
Process Optimization
· Analyze current production processes for inefficiencies.
· Design and implement improvements to reduce waste, costs, setup, and cycle times.
· Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
Workflow and Layout Design
· Develop optimal plant layouts for material flow, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization.
· Design workstations and assembly lines to enhance productivity and ergonomics.
Time and Motion Studies
· Conduct studies to set standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Establish labor standards and production rates.
Cost Analysis and Control
· Monitor production costs and recommend cost-saving strategies.
· Analyze operational budgets and propose capital expenditures.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
· Collaborate with procurement and logistics to optimize supply chain efficiency.
· Improve inventory control systems to minimize excess and shortages.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
· Lead in Kaizen, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives with a safety-first mindset with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
· Use safety metrics (incident rates, near-miss reports, audit findings) to drive continuous improvement in Engineering design and processes.
· Support quality improvement initiatives and audits.
Data Analysis and Reporting
· Develop KPIs and dashboards to monitor and communicate operational efficiency.
Project Management
· Lead cross-functional projects involving production, training, and quality teams.
· Coordinate new product introductions or process changes.
Safety and Compliance
· Ensure ergonomic design and safety compliance of workstations.
· Maintain up-to-date documentation and certifications for equipment, machinery, and facility infrastructure.
· Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams on audits, inspections, and reporting.
· Ensure all machinery and equipment have preventive maintenance plans that address both operational efficiency and safety risks.
· Monitor equipment performance for early detection of conditions that could lead to unsafe failures.
· Incorporate safety reviews into all engineering project phases (design, installation, commissioning, and start-up).
· Lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new or modified equipment.
