Industrial HVAC Chiller Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Industrial HVAC Chiller Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair large-scale HVAC and chiller systems in industrial and commercial facilities. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical skills, hands-on experience with centrifugal and screw chillers, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain, and repair industrial HVAC and chiller systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
• Service chillers including centrifugal, screw, scroll, and absorption systems
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance per manufacturer and site standards
• Inspect compressors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, motors, and controls
• Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA and environmental regulations
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
• Monitor system performance and recommend efficiency improvements
• Maintain accurate service records, logs, and reports
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and participate in on-call rotations
• Follow all safety, lockout/tagout, and site-specific procedures
• Collaborate with engineers, operators, and other maintenance personnel
• Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or technical trade certification (HVAC or equivalent)
• 3–7+ years of experience working with industrial or large commercial HVAC systems
• Hands-on experience with chillers (centrifugal, screw, or large tonnage systems)
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, controls, and electrical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and building management systems (BMS)
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (required)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Physically capable of lifting equipment and working in industrial environments
