Purpose of Position:
- Industrial hygienists monitor, assess, and control health hazards in a workplace. The industrial hygienist job description entails evaluating work conditions and operations to identify how they can affect the health of employees.

Major Responsibilities

To identify and assess workplace hazards, develop control measures, and implement strategies to minimize or eliminate potential risks.

To work closely with management, employees, and other safety professionals to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

To be responsible to identify potential health hazards, including exposure to hazardous chemicals, noise, vibration, biological agents, and physical hazards.

To get air sampling, noise monitoring, and other specialized tests done to assess the level of exposure to different agents and determine compliance with regulatory requirements.

To analyze and interpret data collected from monitoring activities and prepare detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations for corrective actions.

To develop and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.

To provide training and educational programs to employees on various industrial hygiene topics, including hazard communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and ergonomics.

To stay up-to-date with new regulations, industry trends, and advancements in industrial hygiene practices, and recommend appropriate changes to existing programs and practices.

To conduct incident investigations related to occupational illnesses or exposures and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

To act as a resource and provide expert guidance to management, supervisors, and employees on matters related to industrial hygiene and occupational health.

To collaborate with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections and audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, able to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Proficient in using industrial hygiene equipment and software for data analysis and reporting.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

Certification as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is highly desirable.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health and safety.

Experience in conducting training programs and delivering presentations on industrial hygiene topics
Skills & Qualities:

In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, such as OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and local health and safety laws.

Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite and industrial hygiene software for data analysis and reporting.

Strong understanding of risk assessment techniques and experience in developing risk mitigation strategies.
