Infant Lead Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Infant Lead Teacher to join our vibrant early childhood education team. In this vital role, you will lead the development and implementation of engaging, nurturing, and educational activities tailored specifically for infants. Your enthusiasm and expertise will foster a safe, stimulating environment where little ones can explore, learn, and grow. The Infant Lead Teacher provides high‑quality care and education for infants and toddlers, supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum; maintaining a safe, nurturing environment aligned with DHS, CACFP, Iowa Early Learning Standards, NAEYC, IQ4K, and ITERS; fostering strong family partnerships; and supporting a collaborative teaching team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute age-appropriate activities that support infant development milestones, including motor skills, language acquisition, and social-emotional growth
  • Provide attentive caregiving that ensures infants’ safety, comfort, and well-being at all times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment conducive to exploration and learning
  • Collaborate with team members to plan daily schedules that balance play, rest, nutrition, and learning opportunities
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child’s progress, needs, and achievements
  • Implement classroom management strategies to foster positive behavior and social interactions among infants
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including first aid procedures and emergency protocols

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with infants in a daycare or preschool setting is essential
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles specific to early childhood education for infants
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or working with individuals with disabilities are a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom effectively while providing nurturing care
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques suitable for infants
  • Experience with toddler care, babysitting, nannying or working with children with diverse needs is highly valued
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, and team members effectively

Qualifications

  • Completion of all required training (e.g., Mandatory Reporter, CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions, Child Care Essentials, and 12 hours of annual professional development).
  • Successful clearance of state and federal background checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and current physical.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children.

Education

  • BS/BA in Early Childhood Development or Elementary Education, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
