Position Overview
The School Nurse is responsible for overseeing the health and well-being of students and staff by managing the school infirmary, providing first aid, and responding to medical emergencies promptly and effectively. The role requires a compassionate professional with strong clinical skills, presence of mind, and experience in handling emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate first aid and basic medical care to students and staff.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency situations within the school campus.
- Assess injuries/illnesses and determine appropriate care or referral to medical professionals.
- Maintain and monitor the school infirmary, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and availability of medical supplies.
- Maintain accurate health records, incident reports, and daily logs.
- Administer prescribed medications as per school policy and parental consent.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and support their ongoing needs.
- Communicate with parents regarding student health concerns and incidents.
- Coordinate with school management during health-related events, outbreaks, or safety drills.
- Promote general health awareness and hygiene among students.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma/B.Sc. in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid nursing license/registration.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience, preferably in handling first aid and emergency medical situations.
- Certification in First Aid / CPR preferred.
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during emergencies.
- Supports school-wide health initiatives and safety measures.
- Communicates clearly with students, staff, and parents regarding health concerns.
- Experience working with children (school environment preferred).
