The Information Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust cybersecurity systems and infrastructure to safeguard the organization's digital assets. Responsibilities and Duties: Develop, deploy, and maintain security tools and platforms (e.g., SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, SOAR) to support detection, analysis, and response capabilities. Automate security processes and workflows using scripting and integration tools to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of security operations. Evaluate and implement new security technologies and tools, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and threat landscape. Manage tool configurations, updates, and performance tuning to ensure optimal functionality and minimal false positives/negatives. Collaborate with security operations and engineering teams to identify gaps in tooling and recommend enhancements to improve threat visibility and response times. Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends. Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur. Skills: Required: Maintains systems/services and information security, integrity, compliance and continuity. Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. Implements transaction security and computer/network virus protection. Follows confidentiality procedures, ensuring that restricted information is only shared with approved recipients, that data sharing is done so using approved/secure communication methods, and that data is kept safe and secure at all times. Understands, deploys, and manages cloud-based infrastructure and services. Creates the rules for requirements and design quality, performs verification activities, and maintains quality control. Utilizes the appropriate modeling tool(s) to diagram the requirements from data and state changes, process and process improvements, as well as use cases and user stories. Creates clear, comprehensive, effective, and user-friendly guides, manuals, narratives, and reports that convey complex technical concepts, using documentation tools to craft structured and visually appealing content that meets the intended purposes. Determines and analyzes trends from data that is collected to assist in compiling reports that will help in decision-making. Preferred: Designs, executes and reports on systems/service tests to ensure that an application functions as specified in the requirements. Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level Experience: Experienced practitioner able to deal with the majority of situations and to advise others (3 to 6 years) Managerial Experience: Experience with general supervision of more junior colleagues (7 to 12 months)
