Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) for our Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, or Las Vegas, NV office. The Information Systems Security Engineer reports to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and works closely with peers and other key administrative staff personnel. The ISSE is an advocate for the Firm’s total information security needs and is responsible for oversight of comprehensive information security operations to maintain the security posture of the Firm. The ISSE manages security-related projects leveraging collaboration and Firm-wide resources to manage information security risk. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative and collaborative with a sophisticated ability to work with other leaders to set the best balance between security strategies and business priorities at the Firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulates, develops, and implements integrated security systems and secures application architectures for the Firm. Deploys technologies with best practices and latest tools available from vendors and partners.
  • Analyzes current computer and systems technology and available vendor offerings to establish optimum technology solutions; plans future enhancements and directions for the firm-wide computing infrastructure. The ISSE is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Firm. The ISSE will manage systems life cycles and maintain vigilance for new security technologies.
  • Executes against project deliverables through implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of security systems infrastructure; coordinates tasks with other firm departments and third-party vendors as required. Experience working alongside a Project Manager is desirable as is executing against a project plan and schedule.
  • Openness to embracing emerging technologies and acquiring additional certifications when necessary.
  • Can rapidly transition from working with senior consultants on advanced design to working with an end-user with little technical depth.
  • Works with management to negotiate exact technical requirements with 3rd-Party vendors.
  • Has strong technical acumen of various information security systems, concepts and infrastructure including:
    • Cloud Services
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • Network protections
    • Data classification and protection
    • Application Whitelisting
    • Central Encryption Certificate Management
    • Physical Security Access
    • Endpoint protection
    • Security Awareness Training
    • Standards-based system hardening
    • Vulnerability scanning and remediation
    • Managed Security Service Provider tools
    • Identity and Access Management
    • Practical knowledge of security frameworks
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications: The ISSE shall be certified in one of the following commercial certifications:

  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)

Requirements:

The ISSE will hold, at a minimum, an Associate’s degree, preferably in a computer or technology-related field and have a minimum of eight years of progressive responsibilities and broad-based information technology experience.

The daily activities may involve:

  • Administration of major hardware systems and software applications.
  • Organizing and problem-solving coupled with managing a fluid and fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge of current security trends and state-of-the-art technologies.
  • General knowledge of business processes and their interrelationships.
  • Analysis and resolution of complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills and effective presentation skills, all geared toward coordination and education.
  • Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict.
  • Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative.
  • Ability and willingness to travel when necessary.

Compensation: The national average salary range for this role is $104,000 - $154,000. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications, and experience.
