Technology Business Partner


Role Purpose

The Technology Business Partner (TBP) is responsible for ensuring that business strategy is translated into high‑value, secure, and compliant technology outcomes .

The role acts as the single point of accountability between assigned Business Units and Information Technology, owning technology demand, prioritization, and value realization.


Organizational Context

  • Function: Digital Systems & Information Technology
  • Department: Digital Solutions & Technology
  • Section: Business Solutions
  • Reports to: Section Head – Technology Business Solutions
  • Scope: Assigned Business Units (e.g. Retail, Corporate, International)


Key Responsibilities

1. Business Partnership & Strategic Alignment

  • Act as the primary technology advisor to assigned Business Units.
  • Build strong relationships with senior business stakeholders.
  • Understand business strategies, objectives, and challenges.
  • Translate business needs into clearly defined and prioritized technology initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of all initiatives with business strategy, IT strategy, and digital roadmaps.


2. Technology Portfolio & Investment Governance

  • Own the technology portfolio for assigned Business Units.
  • Lead prioritization of initiatives based on business value, ROI, risk, and capacity.
  • Develop and evaluate business cases and cost‑benefit analyses.
  • Support technology budgeting, investment planning, and resource allocation.


3. Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee the end‑to‑end lifecycle of approved technology initiatives.
  • Work closely with PMO, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and IT delivery teams.
  • Ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Track KPIs, benefits realization, and adoption of digital solutions.

Note: This role is accountable for outcomes, not hands‑on development or technical delivery.


4. Stakeholder & Executive Management

  • Facilitate decision‑making across business, IT, and governance forums.
  • Manage competing priorities and expectations across multiple stakeholders.
  • Communicate technology concepts clearly in business terms.
  • Resolve conflicts and drive consensus on priorities and delivery plans.


5. Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to IT governance frameworks and bank policies.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Information Security teams.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technology‑related risks.
  • Support audit, regulatory, and compliance requirements.


6. People Leadership

  • Lead and develop Business Analysts and related team members.
  • Allocate work, provide coaching, and manage performance.
  • Build team capability in business analysis and value‑driven solution design.
  • Support learning, development, and career progression.


Key Interfaces

Internal: Business Units, Strategy, PMO, Digital Architecture, IT Security, Data & Analytics, Application Delivery, Infrastructure & Operations, Risk & Compliance

External: Vendors, Consultants, Service Providers, Regulators (as required)


Experience & Qualifications

Experience

  • 10–18 years of experience in Banking / Financial Services.
  • Proven experience in IT Business Partnering, technology portfolio management, or IT governance.
  • Experience leading or managing Business Analysts, Project Managers, or cross‑functional IT teams.

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree (MBA / Technology Management) is an advantage.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is mandatory.

Important Note: Banking experience is mandatory. Candidates with prior experience working as consultants on banking or financial services technology projects may also be considered, provided they have strong exposure to banking operations, regulations, and enterprise IT environments.
