Inpatient Orthopedics 20-Hours | Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant | Henry Ford Health Jackson

Location: Henry Ford Health Jackson | 205 N East Ave Jackson, MI 49201

Status: Part Time | Days

Schedule: 7-day coverage/approx. one weekend a month covering 6a-6p weekdays, 6a-4p weekends.

Setting: 100% Outpatient | 90% Adult, 10% Pediatrics

Call/Weekends: No Call. Weekends - approx. one weekend a month, 6a-4p weekends.


Position Overview:


Join a dynamic orthopedic team at Henry Ford Jackson in a 36-hour/week inpatient APP role that truly makes an impact. This position focuses on the care of a diverse post-operative orthopedic population, providing comprehensive bedside evaluation and management. Responsibilities include responding to orthopedic consultations, collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons, and helping ensure seamless, high-quality patient care. This role is ideal for an experienced APP who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment and values both autonomy and strong team collaboration. Prior orthopedic experience is required; new graduates will not be considered.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat work-related injuries and illnesses
  • Manage bloodborne pathogen exposures and vaccination programs
  • Perform medical surveillance and respirator fit testing
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, and CDC guidelines

Qualifications:


  • NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
  • Current Michigan licensure
  • Prior Orthopedic Experience
  • National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
  • BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)


Education & Training


  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)


Licensure

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required)


Certification

  • NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
  • PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)


Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)


DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure

  • PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
  • NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
