The Inside Sales Specialist is an integral role within the Functional Packaging Business Unit to support the growth of the Diagnostic Commercial Organization. The role is responsible for developing contacts with established and new customers for purposes of promoting and selling the products, services, and capabilities of Colorcon. This position involves prospecting new potential customers, trade shows, web leads, and other marketing tools provided by the company. The Inside Sales Specialist works directly with the Sales Manager- Diagnostics and our internal technical team to create solutions for customers and target accounts.


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain existing business relationships and to identify a pipeline of new business opportunities from within those current business relationships, including regular forecasting customer needs in planning system and completing the annual budget process.
  • Prospect new customers by following web leads, trade shows, etc. to understand their needs and offer solutions.
  • Independently develop an annual plan that will result in consistent contact with current and prospective accounts.
  • Develop strategic plans for key customers to grow pipeline and revenue with Sales Manager - Diagnostics.
  • Coordinate technical management of customer projects with Technical Services.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of each customer and projects, which includes but may not be limited to their products, competing products, company information, market information, organizational structure, and key personnel in database.
  • Prepare for and attend sales meetings, and industry conferences/meetings.
  • Manage customer inquiries received from Colorcon web page and via chat functionality.
  • Manage and update Hub Spot.
  • Exercise confidentiality as this role has access to extremely confidential information, including customer account information, product applications, prices, purchase agreements and formulas.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S., with a major in scientific discipline (strongly preferred) or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of four years’ technical or sales experience in formulations, product development and manufacturing related to the pharmaceutical or chemical industry required, with previous sales support experience considered.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills to effectively manage customers and inter-company activities that will result in sales.
  • Strong presentation and sales skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to call, connect and interact with potential customers.

Working Location

  • This position is primarily remote, operating from a home office; however, occasional attendance at various Colorcon locations may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
  • Travel: up to 15% domestic and international travel annually.

Annually - 65,000.00 - 80,000.00; salary is based on experience related to the role.
