Installation Assistant

What a typical day looks like:

• Start at our Chicago shop, help load materials/tools, then head to the day’s job site with the crew.
• Work in finished homes and condos, so attention to cleanliness and detail matters.
• Assist with measuring/leveling, hardware installation, hanging window treatments, and job site protection/cleanup.
• You’ll be on ladders, using hand/power tools, and moving window treatments and hardware.

Who we are:

Zirlin Interiors is a fourth-generation, family-owned Chicago workroom (since 1951) specializing in custom window treatments for the trade.

Growth oportunity:

This role is the entry point to our installation team. Assistants who show reliability, strong work ethic, and attention to detail can earn performance-based pay increases and advance to Installer. Installers work more independently and earn higher hourly pay.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with installations and service calls (tools, mounting hardware, learning installation techniques)
• Coordinate tasks with the team to complete jobs on schedule
• Assemble and stage materials for scheduled installations
• Load/unload company vehicles and keep tools/materials organized
• Protect work areas and clean up after installations
• Remove and dispose of packaging/materials properly
• Attend team meetings and follow safety protocols
• Maintain professionalism with clients and team members
• Other related duties as needed

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic hand tool ability
• Comfortable with measurements and basic math
• Reliable and willing to learn
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Strong time management and communication
• Reliable transportation to our shop (5540 N. Broadway, Chicago). Most days begin at the shop with travel to job sites in company vehicles (occasional direct travel to job sites may be required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Construction/carpentry/electrical or other hands-on trade experience
• Experience working in residential environments
• Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

• Lift 50–75 lbs
• Standing/walking/bending for extended periods
• Working on ladders and at heights
• Working in occupied residential environments
