Job Purpose:

The Installation Designer – CAD is responsible for developing detailed installation and shop drawings related to metro system works. The role ensures that all layouts comply with design requirements, standards, and coordination needs across multiple disciplines — electrical, mechanical, civil, and systems — to support efficient on-site installation and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and update installation drawings (cable routing, conduit, trays, equipment supports, brackets, and raceways) using AutoCAD / MicroStation / Revit or other CAD/BIM platforms.

Produce shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings according to site progress and design updates.

Coordinate with design engineers, BIM modelers, and site installation teams to ensure accurate and clash-free layouts.

Apply relevant project standards, codes, and specifications (RTA, DEWA, or consultant guidelines).

Maintain proper drawing control, revision tracking, and documentation following the project QA/QC system.

Assist in design coordination meetings and provide CAD support for technical discussions and interface coordination.

Support BIM integration by ensuring consistency between 2D drawings and 3D models.

Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

7–10 years of CAD drafting experience in metro, railway, or infrastructure projects.

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; basic familiarity with Revit and BIM coordination preferred.

Understanding of installation standards for systems such as power, communication, signaling, or MEP.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Strong teamwork and communication skills in a multidisciplinary, multicultural project environment.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

Previous experience in metro or rail system projects (stations, tunnels, depots, or trackside works).

Knowledge of RTA or major consultant design submission procedures in the UAE.

Familiarity with Navisworks for clash detection and coordination.

Understanding of BIM 360 / ProjectWise / Aconex document management systems.

Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and work under tight deadlines.

Strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety in all design deliverables.
