Baruch College, a senior college within the City University of New York (CUNY), seeks an Associate Director of Institutional Research to support institutional data reporting, analytics, and assessment functions. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation, this role contributes to data-driven decision-making, accreditation support, and institutional effectiveness. The Associate Director supports the Office of Institutional Research in compiling, maintaining, analyzing, and disseminating institutional data to support planning, reporting, and decision-making across the College.

Under the direction of the Associate Provost, the responsibilities of the Associate Director will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the process of providing reliable and accurate data for internal and external consumption.

  • Coordinate data collection, analysis, and documentation to support MSCHE Self-Study and accreditation activities.

  • Oversee the preparation and validation of institutional data for required MSCHE and other mandated reporting (e.g., Annual Institutional Update).

  • Coordinate the preparation and quality assurance of the Common Data Set (CDS), ensuring accuracy and consistency across reporting elements.

  • Coordinate and respond to customized data requests, including data extraction, analysis, and reporting to support campus stakeholders.

  • Provide data analytic support for accreditation self-studies (MSCHE, AACSB, NASPAA) and academic program reviews.

  • Develop Business Intelligence dashboards to support data-driven decision making.

  • Design, construct, and maintain lnstitutional Research databases and data warehouses used for reporting and data analytics.

  • Apply advanced coding, Tableau, data visualization techniques, and other analytical skills to translate business logic and produce deliverables in response to route and non-routine data requests.

  • Processes, transform, analyze, interpret, build, and disseminate data into meaningful, eye-catching, and consumable data visualizations, reports, dashboards, and other tools to support college decision-making.

  • Engage in best methodological and design practices in data analytics and data visualization, including robust validation processes, testing/deployment procedures, user experience quality checks, thorough documentation, and aesthetic guidelines.

  • Integrate data from various systems, examine patterns in data, and draw insights that can be used to support academic and administrative work across the college.

  • Extract and transform data in preparation for analysis, using demonstrated knowledge of relational database systems.

  • Represent the department at committee meetings and other events in the absence of the director.

  • Train staff as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

Must be a current CUNY employee

Preferred Qualifications

  • Quantitative research experience, preferably in Higher Education

  • An advanced degree in a relevant social science or quantitative discipline (e g . Psychology, Social Science Research, Economics, Higher Education Administration, and Applied Statistics) is strongly preferred

  • Power user of SPSS or R that includes syntax writing and the ability to use macros, along with the ability to query large data sets and to analyze complex data sets

  • The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of Tableau and other data visualization tools

  • The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of SQL, Python, Oracle PeopleSoft or other similar ERP systems

  • Knowledge of data mining packages is highly desirable

  • Excellent skills in research methodology, research design, and statistical techniques such as Multiple Regression and Multiple Logistic Regression are required

  • Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team

  • Must be detailed and accurate in data analysis

  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills

  • Must be able to handle tight deadlines, multiple priorities, and concurrent

Manages College institutional research programs and studies related to the College's mission.

  • Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

  • Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.

  • Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.

  • Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.

  • Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.

  • Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.

  • Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.

  • May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

$86,741- $94,909; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
