The Library Assistant will be part of a dynamic Library Team. The position is primarily responsible for providing assistance to the School Librarian, as well as maintaining a close working relationship with BSD teachers, students and other ISG Library staff and assisting with programs and events.
The successful candidate will be able to effectively:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and security of children and young people (child protection).
- Utilise and maintain/update the Destiny Platform.
- Manage circulation responsibilities as needed.
- Catalogue library books and resources following library policies, and order, manage, and maintain library supplies.
- Shelve returned books on a daily basis as well as as keeping shelves straight and orderly.
- Maintain library inventory of assets and equipment.
- Run circulation reports and send electronic overdue notices to all patrons on a monthly basis.
- Manage account clearance and enrollment documentation for withdrawing students and graduating students.
- Manage and maintain all matters pertaining to patrons’ accounts, communication, and follow-up with overdue books.
- Repair damaged library books and resources following professional guidelines and instruction.
- Coordinate class scheduling with librarians and prepare library bags and shelf markers for classes.
- Collaborate with the librarian to design and create eye-catching, interest-generating book displays to encourage reading across all schools.
- Take photos to document activities that occur in the library for social media sites, display tv or bulletin board.
- Help support all reading promotion and activities that occur in the library.
- Run regular reports necessary for maintaining the library collection and share with librarians.
- Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of ISG District and library organisation policies, practices and procedures.
- Coordinate/plan events for the school.
- Sign the staff’s Exit Form for leaving staff when the librarian is unavailable.
- Respond appropriately to the range of individual needs and abilities among students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the librarian, Head of School or Principal.

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.

Experience:
- Some experience working in a library or other customer service setting preferred.
- Prior experience working with students.
- Experience with Google Workspace/Microsoft Office.

- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Good interpersonal skills in interacting with students and colleagues.
- Ability to supervise students in non-classroom settings.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
