PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who understands the importance of providing timely, user-friendly, and engaging education to facilitate a consistent, quality customer learning experience. This role focuses on working with subject matter experts to plan, develop, update, deliver, and evaluate educational content for online, hybrid, and in-person formats.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have technical proficiency in instructional technology tools, including online course authoring (Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise) and video or animation software. The Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer should have a foundational understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories that produce impactful, measurable results. This individual should be able to work both collaboratively and independently and take ownership of project details. They should be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously and able to change priorities quickly to meet business, staff, and member needs.
Decision-making: Decisions made are at a defined level and are based on existing protocols and procedures. The supervisor of this position, the Director of Education and Certification Strategy, is the subject matter expert and advisor on AAPACN’s educational policies, programs, and initiatives. The Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer will work with the LMS Specialist to deliver content through the LMS. They should research and make recommendations to management based on changes in technology, the Learning and Development field, and operational needs. This position requires decision-making ability and the experience to know when to seek help and direction, and acceptance of accountability for decisions made.
Complexity: The Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of instructional design models and learning theories, as well as online course authoring tools and multimedia.
