This position provides professional support and educational training to faculty and staff. The Instructional Designer collaborates with and assists faculty in the design of online, hybrid, and synchronous courses and instructional practices. Responsibilities include developing learning resources, revising courses and course components to improve delivery methods, and supporting the development of online courses tailored to the needs of instructors and students. The Instructional Designer also creates and leads professional development sessions for faculty and staff to promote effective and innovative practices in teaching and learning.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of instructional design models, course development processes, and adult learning principles
Demonstrated knowledge of and intermediate skills in technology and software applications including, computers AI-assisted tools (Microsoft Copilot) and web-based resources, such as Blackboard
Advanced knowledge and skills in instructional design, course development, and delivery methodologies for online, hybrid, and in-person learning environments
Basic knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 standards in the creation of instructional content
Ability to apply a variety of instructional methodologies, including collaborative learning, self-paced study, simulations, and active learning strategies
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a part of a collaborative team environment
Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning skills, with the ability to troubleshoot instructional or design-related issues.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, productive working relationships
Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Intermediate skills with M365 applications
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field
Experience in designing, developing, and implementing courses for online, hybrid, and synchronous learning
Experience providing professional development, training, or support for faculty and staff in instructional design, educational technology, or online teaching best practices
Required to travel to different campus or site locations
Valid Driver's license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrier
Preferences:
Experience producing learning materials in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, animation and multimedia to support teaching, learning, and course redesign needs
Proficiency with developing instructional products that incorporate audio and video features for synchronous and asynchronous courses, podcasts, webinars, YouTube videos, tutorials, performance support tools, , interactive lesson modules, etc.
