About the Role

We’re seeking a seasoned educational training professional with a strong foundation in adult learning theory and instructional design. In this role, you’ll independently lead the design, development, and delivery of training programs that align with our strategic goals, regulatory standards, and desired clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver engaging classroom and virtual training sessions for diverse healthcare audiences.
  • Collaborate with nursing, clinical, diagnostic, and specialty service teams to assess learning needs and develop tailored educational solutions.
  • Troubleshoot system functionality issues and provide hands-on support for new software releases.
  • Maintain and update training materials for assigned Epic modules and other systems.
  • Prepare training environments, ensuring access to necessary equipment, software, and materials.
  • Administer proficiency assessments and gather feedback through post-training evaluations.
  • Document workflow challenges and recommend improvements to enhance training effectiveness.
  • Support scheduling and communication across departments to ensure smooth training operations.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience applying adult learning principles in a healthcare or technical training setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and adapt solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Articulate, and other eLearning tools.
  • Familiarity with Epic systems and basic PC troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

About Us:

Clinical Informatics oversees training and workflow development for the Epic electronic health record. This includes providing training and support for new employees as well as ongoing support for all Epic users. Instructional Designers are experienced educational training professionals who know how to apply adult learning behavior theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field. They work with subject matter experts to learn workflows and apply instructional design methodology to the development of training materials for Epic system upgrades and optimizations. Clinical Informaticists apply their clinical training and experience to evaluate and improve workflows for clinical users of Epic. This includes proposing and overseeing system optimizations, collaborating with system analysts, and working with Instructional Designers on the development of training materials as needed. Clinical Informaticists round with users to observe workflows and provide at-the-elbow support as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in healthcare training required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Epic or other EMR required
  • Experience working with senior management, physicians and all levels of staff
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems preferred

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related area required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Epic Certification – Epic Principal Trainer Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer into position
