Great Day Improvements - Instructional Designer, Learning and Development

Great Day Improvements is a leading provider of home improvement solutions, committed to delivery exceptional service and innovative products. As we continue to grow, we are investing in enterprise-wide learning initiatives to empower our workforce and enhance performance across all departments.

We are seeking a motivated designer with strong creativity and attention to detail to join our Learning & Development team. This role will focus on designing and developing and implementing engaging eLearning experiences that support employee development across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, adult learning theories, and eLearning technologies.

Pay Rate: $60,000 - $65,000 per year
Responsibilities:
  • Create engaging and interactive learning activities and compelling course content, instructional materials and curriculum that enhances retention and transfer of knowledge.
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs.
  • Partners to develop training programs that help with company culture, pride in our company and products and that helps to reduce turnover.
  • Design instructional end goals and create content that matches them.
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
  • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods.
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
  • Decide on the criteria used to evaluate learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.
  • Analyze learning data and feedback to continuously improve instructional materials and enhance learner engagement.
  • Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay current on Learning trends and learning management tools.
  • Supports and embraces the Great Day Team Commandments.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Proven working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology.

  • Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models.
  • Lesson and project planning skills.
  • Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively; self-motivated and ability to organize to meet deadlines or competing priorities/projects.
  • Ability to influence and work in a collaborative work environment that is focused on results.
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with eLearning Authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe, Captivate, etc.)
  • Knowledge of LMS platforms and SCORM/xAPI publishing.
