Instructional Designer with Ed Tech/UX Background

Remote, United States

ABOUT WE DO IT 4 THE CULTURE™

We Do It 4 the Culture™ (WDI4TC) is a culturally responsive EdTech platform transforming how students and educators experience Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Rooted in hip-hop, storytelling, and belonging, we design media-rich, CASEL-aligned SEL experiences that connect education to culture and community.

As we scale nationally, we’re reimagining our digital curriculum to ensure every user interaction feels authentic, accessible, and emotionally resonant.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking a Curriculum Experience Architect — a hybrid Instructional Designer, Curriculum Strategist, and Learning Technologist — to lead the redesign of our digital learning experience.

This consultant will conduct a comprehensive curriculum audit, develop content bands and scope & sequences, design interactive lesson templates, and identify district-approved (whitelisted) EdTech tools that seamlessly integrate with WDI4TC lessons to enhance engagement and usability.

The ideal candidate bridges pedagogy, design, and technology — capable of aligning content with SEL standards while crafting intuitive digital experiences that leverage the best of existing EdTech platforms.

SCOPE OF WORK

Phase I: Curriculum Audit & Strategy

  • Audit current WDI4TC lessons for structure, SEL alignment, and engagement.
  • Develop recommendations for lesson flow, pacing, and scaffolding.

Phase II: Curriculum Architecture & UX Design

  • Create content bands and scope & sequence frameworks for grades 6–12, aligned to CASEL competencies and transformative SEL.
  • Design and prototype teacher and student lesson experiences using tools like Figma, Articulate Rise, or Adobe XD.
  • Ensure all designs reflect accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and emotional engagement.

Phase III: AI Integration & Metadata Framework

  • Collaborate with developers to design AI tagging systems that align lessons to SEL competencies.
  • Develop metadata standards for adaptive learning recommendations and data insights.

Phase IV: EdTech Integration & Tool Alignment

  • Identify and evaluate whitelisted or district-approved EdTech tools (e.g., Flip, Nearpod, Padlet, EdPuzzle, Canva for Education) that complement WDI4TC lessons.
  • Recommend integration pathways that support teacher implementation, student engagement, and platform scalability.
  • Ensure all tools comply with FERPA, COPPA, and district data privacy standards.

DELIVERABLES

  • Curriculum audit report & design recommendations
  • Content bands and scope & sequence frameworks
  • Digital lesson templates and wireframes
  • Metadata and AI tagging documentation
  • Recommended EdTech integration plan and tool guide

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or Learning Experience Design (LXD)
  • Demonstrated work at the intersection of content and EdTech UX design
  • Deep understanding of CASEL SEL standards and culturally responsive education
  • Experience with Figma, Articulate Rise, or Adobe XD for learning experience design
  • Familiarity with whitelisted EdTech tools and LMS integration (Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, etc.)
  • Knowledge of AI, tagging frameworks, and adaptive learning systems
  • Commitment to equity, belonging, and culturally grounded learning
