Job Summary
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Instructional Lab Coordinator Senior to manage and support the organic chemistry teaching labs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • ensuring that teaching laboratories in the Chemistry Department meet the needs of the instructors and students involved with these courses
  • coordinating with department administration and instructors of these courses for the preparation of solutions and experiments, re-stocking supplies
  • maintenance, repair, and/or replacement of instrumentation including IRs, GCs, hot plates, melting point machines, balances, autoclave, dishwashers, etc.
  • training teaching assistants (TAs) regarding laboratory operations preceding, during, and following labs
  • ensuring waste disposal for organic chemistry teaching labs following appropriate guidelines, working with the College level safety personnel and EHS to determine proper methods of compliance
  • maintaining a safe environment in the teaching labs and other areas including storage of compressed gasses and cryogens
  • managing the third-floor prep lab, dry storage area, and solvent room
  • managing the chemical inventory database
  • preparing, developing, and coordinating chemical demonstrations in support of classroom instruction
