Instructional Systems Designer

Job Summary:

FRDA is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer who will develop curriculums, learning objectives, course materials, and training approaches for in-person training courses, using programs of instruction or material developed with and approved by clients, including SOF commands and mission partners. This role will support the maintenance, updating, and/or development of current training course topics as well as the development and structuring of future training courses.

This role is onsite in Arlington, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current training needs based on existing and anticipated contracts.
  • Develop and revise current curriculum, learning objectives, course materials, and job resources.
  • Maintain and update current course content and training materials to include relevant hands-on training materials and methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities for new course content, programs, and relevant training support materials.
  • Develop criteria and methodology for measuring impact of training activities.
  • Continuously evaluate and revise training materials, course content, and training resources based on feedback received and new or emerging capabilities/techniques or requirements to ensure course relevancy.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, instructional developers, and other specialists to produce engaging, mission-relevant content.
  • Ensure training curriculums are compliant with DoD, USSOCOM, and other client standards and policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, eLearning Development, Adult or Secondary Education, Educational Psychology or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in reviewing, designing and developing training programs.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience supporting US SOF or similar clients.
  • Familiarity and understanding of best practices related to adult learning approaches and frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in adult learning principles, curriculum development, and implementing learning solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including experience briefing technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with and supporting SOCOM or similar initiatives.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Familiarity with eLearning tools.
  • Experience with client contractual obligations and compliance.
