Instructor
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Instructor to join our team. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to Justice Involved individuals; Reentry Citizens in local Correctional Institutions.
Facilitate the STEP-UP, Inc. curriculum preparing inmates to transition successfully upon their release back to their communities and families. The ideal candidate will have experience in group dynamics, teaching, and some prior knowledge of the criminal justice system. Good organizational skills, completing and submitting reports, creating relationships within the assigned facility and knowledge of Criminal Justice Systems or related experience.
Duties
- Set up schedules of instructions with all parties related to Regional and local jails as well as state institutions.
- Provide the institutions and jails with copies of scheduled instruction with all the details as to the topic of each session. All Information if requested by the jail shall be provided.
- Provide the participants with a sign-in sheet for class attendance and maintain a sheet for all classes conducted.
- Make sure that all participants know that STEP-UP or their connecting agency will be glad to assist them once they are released from custody.
- Have the participants fill out the details of service forms that describes what type of service they will need prior to and after release such as ID's, birth certificate, or transportation, or need of a mentoring program ( where available).
- Provide a listing of all services available and where located.
- Forward all applications to the main office as well as all reports by the 5th day of the following month.
- Must have working knowledge of all resources available in order to assist with job fairs that will be conducted inside the facility.
Must have demonstrated experience in classroom instruction and ability to learn different teaching methods. Ability to apply these methods in the development and implementation of curriculum-based, educational programs for all levels of education.
- Experience with public speaking and or/ leading group programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
- Must be experienced in administration, counseling techniques, teaching, and writing.
- Must maintain and submit end of the week and monthly reports in a timely manner to the Executive Director.
- Perform all duties as directed by the Executive Director.
