Job Vacancy: Instrument Engineer – Water, Wastewater & Industrial Packages

We are seeking an experienced Instrument Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting the design and execution of water, wastewater, and industrial process packages. The role involves hands-on engineering design, vendor coordination, and site support in a fast-paced SME environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review instrument data sheets, specifications, and technical requisitions.
  • Select and size field instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature, analyzers).
  • Prepare and review: PID, Electrical Load List
  • Instrument hook-up drawings
  • Loop diagrams and termination drawings
  • Junction box and marshalling cabinet layouts
  • Perform electrical, instrument and signal cable sizing, including voltage drop and loop resistance calculations.
  • Develop cable routing, cable tray sizing, and segregation layouts for Power and Instrument areas
  • Prepare and maintain:
  • Instrument index, I/O list, cable schedules, and loop documentation.
  • Interface with electrical engineering for:
  • Power supply sizing (24 VDC, 230/415 VAC)
  • Voltage drop and load calculations
  • Support PLC, MCC, and panel integration for skid-mounted packages.
  • Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Provide site and commissioning support as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering & electrical for water, wastewater, industrial, or oil & gas packages.
  • Strong experience in:
  • Instrument specification and data sheets
  • Hook-up drawings and installation details
  • Cable sizing, routing, and tray calculations
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Power distribution, voltage drop, and load calculations
  • PLC / control systems interface
  • Hazardous area classification (advantage)
  • Familiar with international standards (IEC, ISA, API, ATEX, IP, NEMA).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering documentation tools.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in SME or package-based engineering environments.
  • Exposure to both water/wastewater and oil & gas utility packages.
  • Site installation and commissioning experience.
