Operations will go onstream in 2026. JOB DETAILS

Division: NGHC Operations

REPORTS TO: Instrument Maintenance Supervisor.

LIAISE/COOPERATE WITH: Plant operation staff, maintenance Technicians, Technical Support Teams and contractors.


POSITION SUMMARY

Instrument Maintenance Technician role is a key member of the O&M team for NGHC. Responsible for the day-to-day instrument maintenance of the hydrogen production plant, which includes predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities, including spares management. The incumbent shall perform maintenance activities in accordance with company safety policies and site-specific procedures and maintenance plans.


NATURE & SCOPE

The main functions of this position are:


  • SAFETY IS FIRST, nothing is more important than safety, be fully aligned with all EH&S standards to achieve the goal of zero (0) lost time injuries at GHE.
  • The Instrument Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing Routine, Non-Routine, Preventative, Corrective, and Major Maintenance throughout the facility on a variety of equipment up to and including Analyzers, Control Valves, PLC’s, Process Monitoring equipment, DCS, transmitters, switches, PLC’s, proximity devices, level control systems, personnel safety systems, pay meter systems and others etc.
  • Provide new plant commissioning support will also be required.
  • Problem Solving/Prevention - Recognize existing or potential problems & implement measures to eliminate or reduce their impact. Includes making direct contact with manufacturer representatives and technical resources within to diagnose & solve problems encountered.
  • Provide necessary technical leadership to continuously improve the area’s analytical equipment integrity, reliability, and on-stream factor.
  • Must be able to develop work scopes for equipment repair & overhaul, to prepare and provide technical reports as well as enter information into SAP to provide accurate documentation on equipment & information to enable others in the organization to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
  • Develop procedures for instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Work with NGHC technical staff and plant management to solve plant and equipment problems as they arise in the safest & most effective way.
  • Familiarity with test meters and communicators such as fluke meters, meggers, RTD/TC calibrators, pressure calibrators, and Hart communicators, etc.
  • Responsibility for solving problems and working with process controls engineers to maintain distributed control systems.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.
  • Actively participate in NGHC safety programs, promote, and enforce safety rules and good housekeeping methods.
  • Candidates will be required to meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews.
  • Build and maintain a good relationship with all customers and stakeholders to ensure close cooperation.
  • Will be on call during certain periods of time.
  • Strong commitment to team building, integrity, and diversity.
  • Provide training to new maintenance technicians as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining site management systems, e.g. MOC, BPs, SWIMs, JSAs
  • Have a positive attitude.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • The position is responsible for the safe and reliable maintenance of the GHE production facility following NGHC standards.
  • Will develop and update maintenance procedures.


PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Will act as a new maintenance technicians’ trainer and will supervise contractor.


SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS

  • Technical degree or equivalent with maintenance experience.
  • Operational knowledge of industrial plant and process control systems (Siemens, ABB etc.), instrumentation (including maintenance and calibration), analysers and quality systems on production sites.
  • Be able to use a Multimeter to test/check the signals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand the P&ID and electrical drawings and provide the red mark to reflect what is in the field.
  • Understand basic principle of analysis of each analyzer to help w/troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industry safety regulations and operating practices

  • Be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • SAP or equivalent experience CMMS system a plus
  • Supervisory skills/leading exp a plus
  • Demonstrated safe work skills, fundamental computer skills & ability to work extended hours
  • Able to work in a team environment w/Operators, Instrument & Electrical Techs, Mechanics, Engineering/Technical Support & other contracted crafts.
  • On call rotation & must be willing to work overtime
  • Hydrogen production experience is a plus.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma in a technical discipline and a minimum of 5 – 10 years of related plant instrument / analyser maintenance experience in the industrial gas, chemical, refining and or related industry.
