Department: Electrical, Instrumentation and Control (EIC)

Position Summary:

The Instrument Specialist supports the reliable operation of KRMA’s wastewater treatment facility by maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

Duties Included but Not Limited to:

Maintain and troubleshoot SCADA/automation systems (AVEVA, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs)

Configure and maintain networking and communication systems (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, RSLinx).

Calibrate and maintain process instrumentation (DO, ORP, TSS, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, gas detection, flow, pressure, level, etc.)

Operate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical switchgear, MCCs, generators, boilers, actuators and instrumentation

Support HVAC and mechanical control systems

Coordinate repairs and document work activities utilizing CMMS

This position works a 40-hour week 7am-3pm, Monday – Friday and may require some overtime

Minimum Qualifications

Two years college level training in industrial electrical controls OR

Two years industrial electrical experience including instrumentation, controls and troubleshooting

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience in the Water or Wastewater field preferred

Valid Illinois Driver’s License

Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings including drug, alcohol, physical, and background

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial networking

Experience with Allen-Bradley platforms (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs) and Johnson Controls systems

Strong background in instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting

Familiarity with electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA)

Salary & Benefits:

Hourly rate: $46.76
