Instrumentation Technician

Location: NFE, Ras Laffan

Job Description

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for ensuring the effective operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems within the facility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Collaborate with the Operations team to complete the PPM Planner, ensuring equipment is available for scheduled maintenance. Plan and execute changeovers of running equipment to facilitate preventive maintenance activities.
  • Complaint Resolution: Address and resolve Control & Instrumentation (C&I) complaints raised by Operations. Engage in fault finding and rectification with the support of the Instrumentation Supervisor, adhering to operational methodologies.
  • Calibration and Tool Management: Utilize various calibrators and tools according to field requirements. Ensure the accurate calibration and functioning of instruments, including yearly calibration of HART, Fieldbus, and other control equipment.
  • Breakdown Resolution: Attend and resolve breakdowns related to chiller/PLC/BMS control and instrumentation.
  • Material and Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and storage of materials and equipment. Maintain accurate tracking of requested spares and consumables.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Follow procedures for maintaining logs and activity books. Manage materials received from stores and document their usage.
  • Technical Review and Understanding: Review as-built and P&I drawings of district cooling plant equipment from an operational and maintenance perspective. Understand the RO system control philosophy and the functioning principle of the chilled water leak detection system.
  • Safety and Hazard Identification: Assist in identifying safety hazards and propose steps to mitigate potential risks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or an industrial training certificate in Instrumentation.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role and industry.
