Summary:
An Instrumentation Technician installs, tests, calibrates, maintains, and repairs instruments and control systems used to measure and regulate industrial processes. They ensure equipment accuracy and reliability to support safe and efficient plant operations.Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and commission instrumentation and control systems (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical instruments, etc.).
  • Perform routine calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of instruments and control loops.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning instruments, sensors, transmitters, valves, and controllers.
  • Can troubleshoot boilers equipment, like FO solenoid valve malfunction, actuator vale calibration, PLC or SCADA logic idea.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Assist in system upgrades, modifications, and new equipment integration.
  • Work with PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and other automation systems as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Document maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to resolve instrumentation issues.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, sensors, transmitters, and control systems.
  • Ability to use calibration tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Familiarity with PLC and DCS programming concepts (basic skills may vary by employer).
  • Understanding of process control, electronics, and industrial automation.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments (oil & gas, manufacturing, power generation, chemical plants, etc.).

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
  • minimum 5 years of relevant experience (depending on job level).
  • ISA, NCCER, or OEM certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, or enter confined spaces (as required).
  • Capable of lifting moderate weights and working in varying plant conditions.
