Insurance Billing Specialist - Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

Position Title: Insurance Billing Specialist - Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
Location: Upland Hills Health - Platteville Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
Role & Department: Insurance Billing Specialist in the DME Department - Platteville
Hours & Shift: Full-time (1.0 FTE) 40 hour per week. Day Shift Position
Role Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coordinating and maintaining the professional reimbursement program to ensure compliance with current payments, rules and legislative regulations that impact billing and collections, daily billing of claims, following up on Accounts Receivables, and running/working scheduled reports
  • Receives and generates request from referral sources and patients to provide medical equipment and/or supplies to patients
  • Obtains and reviews the documentation within the medical record to determine payer qualifications are met for equipment and referrals
  • Processing and follow-up on claims
  • Working denials from claims, Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance billing
  • Payment posting/refunds
  • Inbound and outbound calls to insurance companies
  • Handling patient inquires both on the phone and in-person
  • Confirming sales orders delivered for current month
  • Managing collection of accounts
  • Submitting Prior Authorization requests
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Qualified candidates should possess a working knowledge of medical billing experience (1 year minimum) preferred in the health care and/or DME industry but not required
  • Candidates should be up to date on current insurance policies, practices, rules, and regulations that impact billing and collections, as well as regulatory changes.
  • Experience with Brighttree billing system software is very beneficial
  • Candidate will also be required to effectively operate software necessary for the scope of this job description.
  • ICD-10 knowledge is beneficial
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent related experience
