Job Overview
The Insurance Claim Handler is responsible for processing and investigating insurance claims relating to customers’ policies. This will involve working with the policy holder, colleagues and other professionals to ensure that the claim is valid. They will be responsible for the claim from when it is first reported, to final payment or rejection.

Responsibilities & Duties
- Handling email and telephone enquiries from customers

- Managing claims from start to end

- Gathering information about the insurance claim from the customer

- Issuing all relevant forms and dealing with correspondence

- Examining the details on completed forms and checking these against the cover provided by the insurance policy

- Liaise with policyholders, taking information on the nature of the claim and details of their policy.

- Informing the customer of the outcome of the claim

- Maintaining and updating computer records and paper files relating to claims

- Following best practice procedures, such as ensuring new claim processes are completed within a certain time frame

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance
  • Certificate of Medical Coding
  • Experience working as an Insurance Claim Handler
  • Keen eye for details
  • Technical knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Good numeracy, analytical, and literary skills
  • Excellent computers skills (Proficient with Excel and Word)
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer care and communication skills
