Insurance Defense Attorney

Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith P.C. is looking to hire an insurance defense attorney for the Litigation Practice Group to work in our Southfield office. This position is eligible for hybrid work policy after training.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Managing files
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and responses and legal correspondence
  • Handle all aspects of discovery including taking depositions as well as drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests to produce
  • Represent clients in in court proceedings, including motion hearings, mediations, settlement conference, trials, and evidentiary hearings
  • Work closely with clients including writing regular status reports and communicating complex information (written and oral) to stakeholders in an accessible way
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals and support staff

Requirements:
  • 3+ years litigation experience including drafting pleadings, motion practice, depositions, and case management
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to State Bar of Michigan and be in good standing
  • Excellent persuasive writing, legal research, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent professional judgment, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Strong work ethic with record of being proactive and resourceful
