Integration Engineer

Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a skilled and driven Integration Engineer to serve as the technical lead for enterprise integration across Vertiv's growing digital platforms ecosystem. This individual contributor role is responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining scalable integration solutions using Workato as the primary iPaaS platform, while also owning the broader API architecture and cross-platform integration strategy that connects Vertiv's critical business applications — including Compass AI, Writer, UiPath, Power Automate, SiteScope, Cursor, and other enterprise tools. The Integration Engineer will operate within the Digital organization and play a central role in enabling Vertiv's Operational Excellence and Customer Focus & Innovation strategic priorities by ensuring seamless, reliable, and governed data and process flows across the enterprise.

As an individual contributor in a lead capacity, this role requires both deep technical hands-on execution and the ability to influence integration standards, governance, and best practices across teams and business functions. The Integration Engineer will partner closely with technology and business stakeholders to evaluate new integration technologies, onboard platforms, and ensure that Vertiv's integration landscape is scalable, secure, and aligned to enterprise architecture standards.

This position is based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH headquarters, with occasional domestic and international travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Workato Platform Delivery: Design, build, and maintain Workato recipes, connectors, and automation workflows that orchestrate business processes and enable real-time data movement across enterprise SaaS and internal applications.
  • Own API Architecture: Define and govern API design standards, patterns, and best practices across Vertiv's digital platform ecosystem, ensuring integrations are scalable, secure, observable, and recoverable.
  • Drive Cross-Platform Integration Strategy: Architect and implement end-to-end integration solutions connecting platforms such as Compass AI, Writer AI, UiPath, Power Automate, SiteScope, Cursor, and other approved enterprise tools.
  • Evaluate and Onboard New Technologies: Assess emerging integration tools and platforms, provide technical recommendations, and lead onboarding of new technologies to fill capability gaps within the Digital organization.
  • Establish Integration Governance: Define and enforce integration standards, documentation practices, error handling patterns, and monitoring/observability frameworks to ensure reliability and operational resilience.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Stakeholders: Partner with IT Security, Digital, AI/ML, and business teams to translate operational requirements into executable integration architectures, and serve as a technical escalation point for integration-related issues.
  • Support CI/CD and DevOps Practices: Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes for integration services, ensuring consistent, automated, and auditable delivery of integration solutions.
  • Ensure Security and Compliance: Design integrations with enterprise security, access control, auditability, and compliance requirements in mind, partnering with IT Security and NPDi teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in software or systems integration engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Workato or a comparable enterprise iPaaS platform (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Informatica).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing REST and/or SOAP API architectures in complex, multi-system enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating SaaS platforms and enterprise applications across cloud and on-premise environments.

Technical Skills

  • Deep proficiency with Workato (recipes, connectors, Workato Genie, and/or MCP integration patterns preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of API design principles , including REST, OAuth, webhooks, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and familiarity with containers and CI/CD tooling.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Ruby, JavaScript, or equivalent) for custom connector and transformation logic.
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Snowflake, or similar.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workato Automation Pro or equivalent iPaaS certification.
  • Experience with AI-driven automation and agentic workflow patterns (e.g., Workato Genie, Model Context Protocol).
  • Familiarity with RPA tools such as UiPath or Power Automate.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Exposure to enterprise governance, SOX-relevant controls, or compliance-driven integration design.
