Job Summary

Under direction of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, provide leadership, direction, and implementation of quality practices for SLCC’s comprehensive Concurrent Enrollment (CE) program. The SLCC CE director oversees the day-to-day operations and strategic vision of the SLCC CE program, including: supervising full-time staff; collaborating with key internal and external partners to continually improve the operations and quality of the SLCC CE program, and identify critical issues that need resolving; keeping up to date on all relevant Concurrent Enrollment laws, policies, and trends both within the state of Utah and nationally; and managing a large budget and portfolio of diverse projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan, develop, and implement innovative strategies that lead the CE program to high levels of performance. In accomplishment of these objectives, the successful candidate will:
1. Communicate and collaborate with appropriate Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), district, and high school administrators and faculty to deliver high-quality SLCC Concurrent Enrollment courses. Oversee annual Concurrent Enrollment course approvals including distribution of Course Proposal Forms to SLCC academic leaders and issuance of approval letters to instructors. Ensure efficient transition of course changes.
2. Initiate and conduct instructional discipline-specific collaboration and professional development meetings among high school and college faculty.
3. Direct continual program and faculty evaluations to ensure quality, rigor, and integrity of the delivery of all SLCC concurrent enrollment courses.
4. Develop, recommend, publish, and implement concurrent enrollment policies and procedures to ensure program quality. Investigate and correct matters of non-compliance with policy.
5. Prescribe, recommend, and implement changes for program effectiveness, course changes, and/or policies within the specifications of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), Utah State Office of Education (USOE) and SLCC administrators in collaboration with appropriate high school and district personnel.
6. Oversee class scheduling, tracking of courses, student registration, and grade reporting. Oversee dissemination of marketing materials to high school counselors, parents, students and administrators.
7. Represent Concurrent Enrollment on college, district, regional, state-wide and national committees under the direction of a college administrator. Address high school/college partnership and concurrent enrollment distance learning issues.
8. Research national trends in high school/college partnerships and implement appropriate procedures to continually improve the program. Work with the SLCC institutional research office to initiate annual studies on subjects such as quality control, satisfaction, impact on secondary education, student retention and growth. Prepare regular reports to present to administration, trustees, regents, and accrediting organizations.
9. Develop and manage budgets and self-generated Concurrent Enrollment revenues.
10. Initiate and conduct professional development activities for new concurrent enrollment teachers and SLCC faculty liaisons.
11. Deliver presentations at schools and public functions to support Concurrent Enrollment.
12. Supervise personnel including support staff, full-time discipline-specific Concurrent Enrollment liaisons and additional part-time employees.
13. Oversee Concurrent Enrollment course monitoring by college faculty liaisons and compensate according to work assignment. 14. Work with the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) to maintain and strengthen SLCC’s Concurrent Enrollment program and accreditation.

Ability to use effective time management skills including working well under pressure and working with deadlines in areas of ambiguity and constant change. Technologically literate and innovative.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Concurrent Enrollment program and ensure that all employees and high school partners have access to the resources, support, and tools they need to perform their job functions. Meet with key stakeholders on a regular basis to improve processes and resolve problems that arise. Manage all matters pertaining to program operations including quality of monitoring and instruction, class scheduling, student registration and grading, participating in committees and delivering presentations, developing and managing budgets, directing reports and research. Attend Concurrent Enrollment conferences and meetings and engage in research to stay up to date on the latest Concurrent Enrollment trends and opportunities. Work with both key internal and external stakeholders to determine both the strategic direction of the SLCC Concurrent Enrollment program as well as the best implementation of these ideas. Develop and implement strategic plans to address issues such as accommodating the scope of SLCC Concurrent Enrollment offerings without jeopardizing quality, increasing the percentage of Concurrent Enrollment students who continue at SLCC after high school graduation, increasing SLCC use of technology in Concurrent Enrollment including distance learning delivery options, and improving college/high school working relationships. Manage relevant Concurrent Enrollment operations, processes and procedures that are assigned to the director such as supervision of Concurrent Enrollment Staff, budget management, Right of First Refusals, special exceptions, website management, updates to the program management software, non-compliance, tracking key metrics, annual reporting, etc. Ensure that the SLCC Concurrent Enrollment Program operates in alignment with Utah State law, USHE policy, USBE policy, and utilizes NACEP best practice recommendations outlined in their accreditation standards as a general guide to ensure the quality of the program. Develop, monitor, and update a framework of program specific policies, operational procedures, assessments, quality controls and professional development activities to ensure program effectiveness and the quality and integrity of all SLCC courses delivered in the concurrent format. Direct program evaluations to ensure adherence to national standards. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible related full-time work experience required.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with secondary and post-secondary faculty, staff, and administrators.


Preferred Qualifications

Three or more years of full-time teaching or advising experience at the high school and/or college level.
Full-time related work experience at a comprehensive community college.
Full-time experience with concurrent enrollment.
Full-time experience in a leadership position at the secondary or post-secondary level.
