Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Nicola’s Home, a high-end custom residential design firm, is seeking a Senior Architectural Designer with advanced drafting and architectural experience to lead the design and development of custom residential homes. This role is heavily focused on architectural planning, technical drawing, and producing comprehensive construction documentation. Nicolas Home is a small residential design firm housed in a refurbished 18th century barn. Our team is tight-knit and ready to find our next team member!

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Architecture or 3-5 years experience drafting at a residential level with comparable experience drafting concept through construction. This individual must be highly skilled in drawing to scale, space planning, and developing fully coordinated architectural drawing sets suitable for permitting and construction.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Owner + Principal Designer Nicola Manganello, as well as builders, consultants, and project managers, ensuring that each home is thoughtfully designed, technically sound, and precisely documented. This is a leadership-level position requiring strong design judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of custom residential homes from initial concept through full construction documentation.
• Draft complete residential home plans in Revit, including floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules.
• Develop comprehensive drawing sets including site coordination, structural layouts, millwork details, reflected ceiling plans, and finish plans.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, builders, and consultants to ensure technical accuracy and constructability.
• Review and redline shop drawings and construction documents.
• Conduct site visits as needed to verify field conditions and ensure drawings align with construction progress.
• Maintain drawing standards, file organization, and quality control across projects.
• Collaborate and manage the design team to integrate architectural detailing with interior architecture and millwork.
• Mentor junior team members in drafting standards and technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Architecture from an accredited program (Master's degree a plus).
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional architectural experience, with a strong focus on custom residential projects.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit (required).
• Demonstrated ability to draft complete residential homes independently.
• Proven ability to draw accurately to scale and produce technically precise documentation.
• Excellent spatial planning and architectural problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.

Compensation

Bachelor's Degree (3 to 5 years experiencce): $55,000 – $75,000

Master's Degree (3 to 5 years experience): $75,000 – $90,000

Compensation is commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
