Interior Design Assistant

Melissa Hoffmann Interiors, LLC is seeking a skilled, professional, and detail-oriented Design Assistant to support our growing, high-end interior design firm. We specialize in luxury interior design and remodeling projects throughout Hampton Roads and beyond.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys supporting a creative team, staying organized, and helping projects run smoothly behind the scenes.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide day-to-day support to the lead designer and team
• Prepare and organize samples and project presentation materials
• Communicate with vendors, contractors, and clients in a professional and customer-focused manner
• Track orders, deliveries, and basic project details
• Help maintain organized project files and documentation, including client-facing documents
• Run occasional errands to vendors or job sites
• Assist with on-site visits as needed
• Adapt to shifting priorities and assist with resolving minor issues as they arise
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Customer service experience or strong interpersonal skills preferred
• Ability to professionally interact with vendors, contractors, and clients
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Proficient and comfortable using a computer and digital tools
• Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
• Willingness to take direction and support the team where needed
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean background check
• Occasional nights or weekends during project installations
• Occasional travel for project installations
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

• Ability to view a computer screen for extended periods
• Ability to sit or stand for long durations
• Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
• Ability to walk on uneven surfaces in various weather conditions

Work Environment

Work is performed in a combination of office and remote settings. Travel to job sites and vendor locations is required, with potential exposure to outdoor elements throughout the year.

Compensation & Schedule

• Job Type: Part-Time
• Pay: Up to $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
• Hours: 8–16 hours per week
• Occasional nights or weekends during project installations
• Occasional travel for project installations

Pay: Up to $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 16.0 per week
